Roane County Schools intends to apply for a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant to provide students with academic opportunities and support services to help them meet state and local standards in the core content areas. The application will be available for review at Roane County Schools, 105 Bluff Road, Kingston, TN 37763.
The application deadline is April 1, 2024.
Career and technical education (CTE), provides students with the skills necessary to continue their education or enter jobs in industries that pay well and are readily available. CTE includes a series of classes that match what local businesses need, based on Tennessee's regional economy and job market. Students who take CTE courses, in middle and high school, can learn specific skills and knowledge needed to be successful in an ever changing world.
Attention Parents & Guardians - your student is eligible for a Free Dental Cleaning if they are between the ages of 4-12 during the Months of February and March at the Oak Ridge Campus of Roane State Community College. Details are available in the picture below.
Today, County Executive Wade Creswell along with Roane Alliance, Roane County Schools, TN Achieves, Roane State, University of Tennessee, and TCAT Harriman announced the challenge 70% x 2025. Our goal is a 70% college going rate for Roane County Schools graduates by 2025. College going includes: 2 year college, 4 year college, technical schools, and apprenticeship programs. Juniors from across Roane County Schools attended the event and were inspired by presentations from UT System President Randy Boyd and Oliver Springs Alum, Oakley Atterson. Students also heard a panel discussion from Mr. Russell Jenkins, Director of Schools, Dr. Stephen Streiffer, Director, ORNL, Danice Turpin, President TCAT Harriman, Glenn Jacobs, Knox County Mayor, and Krissy DeAlejandro, President/CEO of TN Achieves. We look forward to encouraging all students to continue their passion for learning!
On January 25, 2024 at the Roane County School Board Meeting, SRO Anthony Hughes and SRO Wayne Landry, were recognized for achieving National Practitioner from the National Association of School Resource Officers. The certificates were awarded by Chief Tim Hawn and Captain Daryl Cook of the Roane County Sheriff’s Department.
