Harriman High School to Host Leadership Roane County on February 12
Harriman High School is proud to host Leadership Roane County on February 12, showcasing its facilities and the collaborative spirit of the community.
As part of the event, local and state law enforcement will utilize areas such as the gym parking lot, football field, and gymnasium. This means that HHS will have more police presence than usual on campus on this day. Their presence highlights the strong partnership between HHS and community agencies.
We are excited to welcome this prestigious group. See the previous post for more information.

Due to Illness, Roane County Schools (TN) will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10th and 11th.

Help Make Prom Possible for Every Student!
Prom is a cherished high school tradition, but for some students, financial barriers can make attending difficult. Our Prom Committee is working to ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience this special night, and we need your help!
We’re seeking support from community sponsors and individuals to make prom more accessible. Your generosity can help cover costs and create an unforgettable evening for all.
If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor or know someone who might be, please contact Prom Advisor Deb Stout at dstout@roaneschools.com or call (865) 882-1821. Donations are kindly requested by March 31.
Thank you for helping us make prom a night to remember! 💛✨

Students and guests got the opportunity to watch an interview with Holocaust Survivor Pinchas Gutter on Wednesday evening in Mrs. Stout's classroom.
Pinchas Gutter is known throughout the world for sharing his testimony of surviving the Holocaust. Born into a well established family in Lodz Poland, Pinchas was seven years old when World War II erupted. He, along with his twin sister and entire family initially fled to the perceived safety of Warsaw after his father had been brutally beaten by Nazis. Pinchas and his family were soon incarcerated in the Warsaw Ghetto for three and a half years. Three weeks after the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Pinchas and his family were deported to Majdanek death camp. There his parents and twin sister were murdered by the Nazis. Pinchas was sent to a work camp and later survived several other concentration camps, including Buchenwald. Towards the end of the war he was forced on a death march from Germany to Theresienstadt in Czechoslovakia which he barely survived. He was liberated by the Russians on 8th May 1945 and under the auspices of UNRRA was taken to Britain with other children for rehabilitation. After spending many years in South Africa he emigrated to Canada where he resides. Pinchas now divides his time between speaking out against the Holocaust, volunteering as a chaplain and is an honourary full time Cantor in the Kiever Shul.

We are honored that our African-American History students were invited to present at the Roane County NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday evening. Last semester, students created a powerful PowerPoint presentation highlighting the journey toward freedom for Black Americans. A special thank you to Destiny Wallace, a former student of Mrs. Stout, who graciously stepped in to present this important work. We are grateful for the opportunity to explore critical topics in African-American history and to reflect on how these stories are an essential part of OUR collective history.
